In the next five years, Millennials will make up approximately half of the workforce in the United States. Traditional methods of advertising, selling, and marketing is going to change based on how Millennials will respond to content and convert to sales.

Millennials are bombarded with information constantly, and as a result, they are going to have different expectations for marketing than other generations. It is for this reason that websites need to evoke human emotion, instead of presenting a professional portfolio.

So, how does a professional website connect with the Millennial population? They need to create optimised mobile friendly websites. In 2016 about 80 percent of Millennials owned a smartphone and used their device for browsing purposes.

Smartphones have become the preferred way to communicate among Millenials and how most social interactions occur for them. They use their phones for everything, including online transactions. So, in this day and age, it is going key to be mobile friendly.

Being mobile friendly means more than just having your website work on a mobile platform. It means that your content is easy to read and access. Millennials are known to speed read or scan through articles until they find the information they are looking for before deciding to move on from that content or stick with it.

As a small business, it is imperative that your website is organised in such a way that Millennials can engage with it as fast as possible. It is for this reason that you want to get straight to the point.

Four ways to do that are:

  1. Use bold headlines to define each section
  2. Write short 3-5 sentence paragraphs
  3. Use bullet points and numbering systems
  4. Use bold font for the start of your first paragraph

Doing these things will capture the attention of your Millennial audience and provide them with an immediate experience that satisfies their search intentions. Quick and easily accessible mobile content is essential when it comes to reaching out to the new Millennial consumer base.

Chances are if your content is readily available and easy to read, Millennials will respond to it by sharing it across social media platforms. Any good marketing campaign will have multiple shares of their content on social media.
