The NFL offseason is in full-swing and several big-name players have hit the free agency market. Big names have already landed in new places with the potential to completely change the future of their new teams.
Of course, not all free agent NFL stars sign with new teams as a number of this year’s players on the market will re-sign with their most recent franchise teams. The money is being shown once again in the NFL free agent market and here are the big names landing in new places.
Le’Veon Bell – New York Jets
Le’Veon Bell has traded in the Pittsburgh Steelers for the New York Jets. The running back is just 27-years old and has the potential to spend the rest of his prime years in the Big Apple running over AFC East defences. Bell was the No.1 free agent on the market due to the numbers he has put up in the past and his potential for the future.
The running back set a career high in rushes with 321 in 2017. He ran for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns. He sat out all of last season due to a contract dispute with the Steelers. Will missing time keep him from excelling as a Jet? The Jets inked Bell to a four-year contract worth $52.5 million that includes $25 million guaranteed.
Earl Thomas – Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens added safety Earl Thomas to strengthen their strong defence. Thomas is considered a future hall of fame player thanks to his outstanding secondary work. Thomas has missed games the last few seasons due to injury, but that didn’t stop Baltimore agreeing a $55m contract for the next four years with Thomas.
Nick Foles – Jacksonville Jaguars
Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl LII win. He also won the game’s Most Valuable Player award as the Eagles defeated the New Patriots for the NFL’s biggest prize.
The quarterback played well in 2018 but appeared in just five games. He still threw for a fantastic 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns. Foles’ limited action came due to the Eagles flip-flopping between he and Carson Wentz under centre.
Foles has been given a tremendous contract by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The quarterback signed a four-year, $88m contract that could increase to $102m due to incentives.
Trey Flowers – Detroit Lions
Defensive lineman Trey Flowers has left the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots for the Detroit Lions. Flowers averages seven sacks per season and his presence will improve the Lions’ front three. Flowers has signed a five-year, $90m contract. The defensive lineman will get $40m guaranteed.
C.J. Mosley – New York Jets
C.J. Mosley has improved the Jets on the defensive side just as Bell has on the offensive end. The linebacker was the backbone of the Baltimore Ravens defence. Mosley is a four-time Pro Bowler and the Jets have inked him for five years and $85m. The Jets will pay him $51m in guaranteed cash. New York should now have the defence and the offence to compete with the Patriots in the AFC East.
